Stitch a little sewing-machine brooch of your own with this beginner-friendly felt craft kit from Hawthorn Handmade. Templates, colour diagrams and step-by-step instructions guide you through cutting the felt, arranging the pieces and learning over five embroidery stitches, including French knots.
The kit includes 10cm square sheets of 30% wool and 70% viscose felt, DMC stranded cotton thread, an embroidery needle, stainless steel pins, a brooch back, reusable paper templates, an illustrated felt-craft booklet and a detailed stitch and colour guide. You’ll also need a pair of sharp scissors.
Make the 8cm-diameter brooch by following the guide, or use the templates to create your own layout and add other stitches. You can also leave off the brooch back and use your finished piece as a patch, fridge magnet, hair decoration or keyring.
