Why We Love This Product
Each plate is painted by hand. No two are exactly alike.
Henri Matisse spent his winters in Nice, following the light south when the rest of France went grey. He sat at the edge of his bed in the Hôtel de la Méditerranée, watching the sun come in, picking up his brush. We think this is how he would have taken his lunch — plates full of colour, a table set with joy rather than formality.
The Buds in May plates are our homage to that instinct. Hand-painted in rich, expressive glazes on shaped stoneware, each one carries the slight variations that come from being made by a single pair of hands. The brushwork is visible. The glaze catches the light differently depending on where the plate sits. That is not inconsistency — that is how you know it is real.
At 22cm, they work beautifully as starter plates, lunch plates, or alongside a dinner plate for a more layered table. Food-safe and dishwasher-safe, because beautiful things are made to be used.
This is a plate for people who believe lunch deserves as much care as dinner.
